South African Police Arrest 39-Year-Old Suspect for Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition

In a swift operation, the South African Police Service (SAPS) has arrested a 39-year-old suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The arrest took place on Saturday, August 10, 2024, along R81 road at Xigalo village in Limpopo province.

According to reports, the members of Malamulele and Giyani Crime Prevention received information that led them to the suspect, who was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and 15 live rounds of ammunition at Malamulele Section C. The suspect was immediately taken into custody.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has commended the members for their swift action in arresting the suspect and removing illegal firearms from the community.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court soon, and police investigations are ongoing.

This latest development is a significant step forward in the SAPS’s efforts to combat illegal firearms and keep communities safe. The public can expect to see more of these types of operations in the future as the police work to rid the country of illegal weapons.
