Nigerian Army to Commence Training and Testing of Officers and Soldiers

The 2 Division Nigerian Army, Ibadan, has announced that it will begin the training and testing of its officers and soldiers to refresh their weapon handling skills from August 26 to September 20. According to Lt.-Col. Polycarp Okoye, the acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, the exercise is a major training requirement for troops of the Nigerian Army (NA).

The 2024 Second Schedule of Range Classification Exercise is designed to enhance the proficiency of professional soldiers in weapon handling, leading to better results during military operations. Okoye explained that the exercise is a biannual routine observed at all levels of different units and formations of the NA nationwide.

The training will take place at Major General OF Azinta Shooting Range, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan. The public has been informed not to panic if they hear sounds of gunshots during this period, as it is a normal part of the training exercise. Additionally, farmers and hunters within the barrack are advised to avoid the range area throughout the period.

This exercise is a testament to the Nigerian Army’s commitment to continually training and improving its personnel to effectively carry out their duties.
