Controversial Miss South Africa Contestant Joins Miss Universe Nigeria Competition

Chidimma Adetshina, a former Miss South Africa contestant, has joined the Miss Universe Nigeria competition as the representative of Taraba State. The move comes after she withdrew from the Miss South Africa contest due to controversy surrounding her nationality.

According to Media Talk Africa, Chidimma was born in Soweto, South Africa, in 2001. Her father is of Igbo descent, while her mother is a Mozambican national who has become a naturalized citizen of South Africa.

The South African Ministry of Home Affairs launched an investigation, following which Chidimma decided to withdraw from the contest. She has since accepted an invitation to participate in the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

The organizers of the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant announced Chidimma’s participation on Friday, introducing her as Miss Taraba, contestant number 25. The announcement read: “Introducing CHIDIMMA ADETSHINA (@chichi_vanessa ) as MISS TARABA STATE.”
