Thugs Assault SDP’s Murtala Ajaka at Supreme Court Over Kogi Governorship Election

Supreme Court Assult: Kogi State Governorship Candidate Murtala Ajaka Attacked

The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State, Murtala Ajaka, was attacked at the Supreme Court today by unknown thugs.

This incident occurred shortly after the Supreme Court announced its decision to uphold the election of Usman Ododo, a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the Governor of Kogi State.

Before the attack, PUNCH had reported that Ajaka had contested the election results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declaring Ododo the winner. He had taken the case to the apex court to challenge the outcome of the election, seeking to have it nullified.

However, in a unanimous decision, the five-member panel of judges on the bench refused to void the election as demanded by Ajaka’s camp.

After the verdict, Ajaka was brutally attacked by unidentified thugs while exiting the courtroom. The motive behind the assault has not been disclosed at the moment.
