“THE UPRISING: WIVES ON STRIKE” HITS CINEMAS OCTOBER 18
Actress and Director, Omoni Oboli, has announced that her upcoming film, “The Uprising: Wives on Strike”, will be released in cinemas from October 18. In a recent post on social media, Oboli teased the intense emotions she felt while working on the project, stating that “besties” should mark their calendars as the film promises to keep them on the edge of their seats.
“The Uprising: Wives on Strike” is a drama that follows a widow’s journey after her child is kidnapped. With time running out, she must confront the darkest depths of human despair. The film is produced by Dion Vision Films and distributed by Nile Entertainment, marking Nile’s first title under its distribution arm.
The movie features an all-star cast, including Omoni Oboli, Hilda Dokubo, Uche Jombo, Chioma Akpotha, Ufuoma Mc Dermott, Bukunmi “Kiekie” Adeaga-Ilori, Okey Bakassi, May Yul Edochie, Julius Agwu, Elvin Ibru, Segun Arinze, Sani Musa Danja, Kalu Igwe, Femi Branch, Emeka Okoye, Tomi Wategbe, and Folaremi Agunbiade.
Notably, Oboli’s production company is partnering with several major companies on the project, including the UBA group, GAC motor Interswitch group, Red TV, and BOZ diamonds, for whom she serves as a brand ambassador.
This is not the first installment in the “Wives on Strike” series. The original film was released in 2016, followed by a successful sequel, “Wives on Strike: The Revolution”, in 2018. The satirical films explore themes of gender-based violence and encourage critical conversation around important issues affecting women.
