National Youth Service Corps Relocates Orientation Camp to Facilitate Rehabilitation
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the relocation of the orientation camp for the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members to Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education in Kangere, Bauchi State. According to a statement by the NYSC coordinator in the state, Mrs. Rifkatu Yakubu, the relocation is necessary to facilitate the rehabilitation of the Permanent Orientation Camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.
Governor Bala Mohammed has directed the total renovation of the existing camp structure, making it necessary to move the exercise to a temporary site. The relocation aims to allow the state government to pursue the renovation work of the permanent orientation camp. Mrs. Yakubu emphasized that the new facility will provide a conducive environment for the orientation exercise.
The NYSC has deployed 1,900 prospective corps members to the state for the orientation exercise, which is scheduled to take place between August 28 and September 17. To ensure a safe and successful journey, prospective corps members are advised to avoid night journeys and always break their journeys to continue the following day.
The relocation is expected to provide a unique opportunity for the corps members to interact with each other and with the local community. It is also expected to enhance their learning experience and prepare them for their role in the development of Nigeria. With the relocation, the NYSC aims to provide a better orientation experience for the corps members and ensure a successful service year.
