State Security Service Director General Yusuf Bichi to Resign, Tinubu May Name Replacement

Breaking News: Nigeria’s State Security Service Director-General Set to Resign

Yusuf Bichi, the Director-General of Nigeria’s State Security Service (SSS), has prepared to tender his resignation to President Bola Tinubu on Monday. This development comes after he returned to the office earlier today and informed his close aides of the decision.

According to sources at the Yellow House, the headquarters of the SSS, the outgoing DG returned to the office this afternoon and made the announcement to his close aides. Although the reasons for his resignation are still unclear, insiders speculate that the decision may be linked to the ongoing restructuring and reorganization efforts within the organization.

President Tinubu is reportedly considering appointing a replacement from one of the serving assistant directors. This would be a significant development, considering the SSS is a critical security agency responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the nation.

Mr Bichi was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari on September 14, 2018, to replace Matthew Seiyefa, who served in an acting capacity. This comes on the heels of another resignation, that of his counterpart at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, who tendered his resignation to the president on Saturday.

As the dust settles on this development, Nigerians will be watching with keen interest to see who will take the reins as the new Director-General of the SSS and how this will impact the country’s security landscape.
