Lil Baby Arrested in Las Vegas for Alleged Weapon Possession

Rapper Lil Baby, whose real name is Dominique Jones, was arrested in Las Vegas on Monday, August 26, for allegedly carrying a weapon without a permit. The Atlanta-based artist was in town to perform at James Harden’s birthday party when he was taken into custody and held on $5,000 bail. He has since been released on bail and footage of the arrest has surfaced.

According to a report by TMZ, Lil Baby was detained outside of Encore Las Vegas, where he was seen in handcuffs and yelling out to someone, "I need 200 bands. Call this number for me," before repeatedly claiming that he had the proper license to carry the gun and should not be getting arrested.

Lil Baby’s attorneys, Drew Findling and David Chesnoff, provided an update on Tuesday, stating that the rapper has a valid Georgia Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit. They are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his arrest.

The authorities showed up at the venue because Lil Baby was caught on video being passed a gun, TMZ reported.

Prior to this incident, Lil Baby had better luck earlier this year, being named Songwriter of the Year at the 2024 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards.

The artist has also been very active in terms of guest appearances in 2024, delivering standout features on recent tracks like "ALL TEN" by Tay B, "FOREVER ROLLING" with Ye and Ty Dolla $ign, "PJ" by BossMan DLow, "What Happened" by YTB Fatt, "Choppa" by Byron Messia, the viral "BAND4BAND" by Central Cee, and more.
