Halle Bailey Signals New Era with Mature Themes and Lyrics in “Because I Love You”

Halle Bailey Returns with Emotional New Single "Because I Love You"

Singer-songwriter Halle Bailey is back with her second solo single of 2024, "Because I Love You." The 24-year-old’s latest release sees her professing her undying love in the romantic ballad, co-written by RAYE. This new era of mature themes and lyrics marks a significant departure from her previous work, showcasing Bailey’s growth as an artist.

The music video, which features Bailey alongside RJ Cyler and directed by Allie Avital, takes a unique approach to storytelling. As tensions rise, Bailey’s character jumps on the hood of her lover’s car, only to be confronted by multiple clones of herself. This visually striking clip delves deeper into the vulnerability and passion that comes with being in love.

In a press statement, Bailey shared her inspiration behind the song: "‘Because I Love You’ is a song for anyone who has ever been deeply in love. It’s an anthem that tells the story of all of the beautiful passion and euphoria you can feel with that person. The video dives deeper into how vulnerable it makes you feel. I hope people enjoy listening and thinking of the person they love the most."

The song was teased on Instagram Live in April, alongside a few other new, yet-to-be-released tracks. As the winner of a fan-voted poll, "Because I Love You" follows her earlier release "In Your Hands" this year.

Halle Bailey made her solo debut with last year’s "Angel," which was nominated for Best R&B Song at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Most recently, she was featured on the song "Want Me" from her sister Chlöe’s sophomore project, Trouble In Paradise.
