Minister Disrupts Abuja Event, Calls Out Wasteful Government Spending and Lack of Empowerment

Minister of Women Affairs Disrupts Event in Abuja, Criticizes Government’s Wasteful Spending

In a bold move, Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has disrupted an event in Abuja that was organized without her consent and lacked a people-centered purpose. This is not the first time the minister has taken such action, as she previously disrupted an event on August 8, 2024, in Abuja.

During the previous event, titled "Unveiling the Power of Women and Food Security," the minister stated that the organizer had been taken into custody by the Department of State Services (DSS) for allegedly impersonating the ministry. In a video posted on her social media page, the minister expressed her opposition to workshops and seminars that do not prioritize empowerment.

In the latest video, which has gone viral on social media, the minister emphasized that seminars without empowerment are a waste of the government’s scarce resources. She also criticized the government’s wasteful spending, stating that money allocated to ministries is often used for travel and programs that do not impact the nation.

The minister’s message was clear: she will no longer tolerate events that do not prioritize empowerment and will take action to disrupt them. She urged Nigerians to take responsibility for their own lives and not rely on the government to solve their problems.

The minister’s words have sparked controversy, with some criticizing her for being too outspoken and others praising her for speaking truth to power. Regardless of the reaction, it is clear that Minister Kennedy-Ohanenye is committed to making a positive impact and will not be silenced by those who disagree with her.
