Ahead of the 2024 Annual Range Classification Phase 2 exercise, the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, based in Jalingo, Taraba State, has issued a warning to the public to stay clear of shooting range areas to ensure their safety.

Scheduled to take place from September 17 to 19, 2024, the military exercise aims to improve soldiers’ skills in weapon handling and maintenance. According to Captain Oni Olubodunde, the Brigade’s spokesperson, the exercise will involve the movement of troops, military equipment, and live ammunition firing.

In a statement released on Monday and made available to journalists in the state, the Nigerian Army emphasized that all necessary safety measures have been taken to protect lives and property during the event. Nonetheless, the public has been urged to maintain a distance from the 114 Battalion Rear in Jimlari, Lau Local Government Area, and the Jimlari shooting range throughout the exercise.

The soldiers involved in the exercise have asked the public to remain calm and not panic, reassuming that their safety has been prioritized. Although the exercise is a normal part of the Army’s routine operations, the precautionary measures are in place to ensure the public remains safe.

As the clock ticks closer to the military exercise, the Nigerian public is advised to exercise vigilance and heed the Army’s warning to avoid shooting range areas.
