Mass Shooting in Alabama Leaves Four Dead, Dozens Wounded

A devastating mass shooting in the US state of Alabama has claimed the lives of at least four people and left dozens more injured. The incident occurred in the Five Points South district of Birmingham on Saturday night, just after 11:00 pm.

According to police officer Truman Fitzgerald, multiple shooters fired multiple shots at a group of people, resulting in four fatalities. Two adult males and one adult female were found dead on the sidewalk, suffering from gunshot wounds. A fourth victim succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital.

Fitzgerald stated that dozens of people were wounded in the shooting, with at least four sustaining life-threatening injuries. The others suffered various injuries.

As the investigation continues, police have not yet made any arrests and are urging the public to come forward with any information that could aid in the investigation. Several agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, are involved in the probe.

Fire rescue services responded to the scene on Saturday night and cordoned off the area to ensure public safety.

The mass shooting is just the latest in a disturbing trend of gun violence in the United States. According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been at least 403 mass shootings this year, defined as a shooting involving at least four victims, dead or wounded. The total number of fatalities from firearms violence this year has reached at least 12,416, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
