Hope Revives as PDP Committee Embarks on Disciplinary Process

Abuja, Nigeria – In a move aimed at restoring hope and confidence in the party, Chief Tom Ikimi, National Chairman of the National Disciplinary Committee of the PDP, has outlined a three-pronged approach to tackle internal disputes and complaints. Ikimi, who made the statement in Abuja, emphasized the importance of fairness, firmness, and decisiveness in addressing the party’s challenges.

“We are hopeful that our fairness, firmness, and decisiveness will restore the hope and confidence of our great party to meet the expectations of our teeming membership nationwide and the Nigerian public who are desperate for an appropriate national leadership,” Ikimi said.

The National Disciplinary Committee, led by Ikimi, will handle petitions and complaints from aggrieved members, adhering strictly to the guidelines set out in the PDP constitution. The chairman stressed that the party constitution clearly outlines the “Offences and Sanctions,” and that all petitions would be dealt with accordingly.

Ikimi also urged PDP members and leadership to provide the necessary support and cooperation for the committee’s successful completion of its task. The 26-member committee includes prominent figures such as Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, Ex-Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, and former Ag. National Chairman of the Party, Abubakar Kawu Baraje, among others.

The committee is set to start its sitting and hearing, and it looks forward to receiving petitions and complaints from members, either through the National Working Committee or through other official channels.

Ikimi’s remarks have been met with cautious optimism, as the PDP struggles to recover from internal divisions and party crises. With the newly constituted disciplinary committee, many hope that the party will finally begin to address its internal issues and move towards a more unified and strong national leadership.
