Adamawa establishes digital academy – Media Talk Africa Nigeria

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has given approval for the establishment of the Adamawa Digital Academy, the first such establishment in the state.

The academy is aimed at providing digital skills training for civil servants and youths, according to Fintiri’s Special Adviser on ICT and E-Governance, Ahmed Hammajam, who said on Wednesday that the move resulted from the state’s progress through its Action on Business Enabling Reforms, SABER, which eliminated right-of-way charges for telecommunications companies.

“The SABER project aims to create a framework that reduces Right of Way charges to zero, attracting telecommunications companies to invest in the state and improve the ICT sector,” Hammajam explained.

He added that the Adamawa Digital Academy will utilise the Digital Bridge Institute in Yola to achieve its goals.

“With this initiative, Adamawa State aims to rank among the top 10 states with the most robust digital economy in Nigeria by 2025 with aspirations to reach 5th or 3rd place,” Hammajam said.

According to him, Governor Fintiri has also signed regulations establishing the Adamawa State Information Technology Development Agency to provide a friendly atmosphere for various sectors of the state’s economy.
