Ballon d’Or: Rodri saved football – Carlos aims dig at Vinicius

Carlos Olmo, the brother of Barcelona midfielder, Dani Olmo, has aimed a dig at Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr.

Olmo appears not to have forgiven the Brazilian forward for missing out on the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

The 2024 Ballon d’Or was given to Manchester City talisman Rodri, instead, which led to Los Blancos’ disappointment and anger.

Rodri was announced as the winner of the 2024 award ahead of the Real Madrid trio of Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham and Dani Carvajal.

The Spaniard won the Premier League title with City and the Euros with his country.

Rodri’s winning the Ballon d’Or comes as a shock, as Vinicius was widely expected to take the prize home.

Ahead of the award ceremony, Real Madrid learned that Vinicius Jr would not be the winner and decided to cancel their trip to Paris.

The furore around the Ballon d’Or, which took place in October, eventually died down. However, Carlos has stoked the flames once more.

He shared a compilation of Vinicius Jr’s fouls, aggressive tackles, pushes, protests, and other gestures on Instagram with the caption:

“Rodri really saved football.”
