Popular Nigerian musician Seun Kuti has clarified that his opposition is directed toward European colonialism, not the European people themselves. Known for his strong stance against imperialism and corruption, Kuti emphasized that his critique should not be misconstrued as animosity toward individuals from Europe.
In a recent post on his Instagram page, Kuti highlighted the importance of striving for a fairer world. He reiterated that his condemnation of European colonization is rooted in a desire for justice and equity, rather than hatred.
“I’m against European colonization and imperialism, but that does not mean that I’m against European people,” he stated. Kuti acknowledged that many Europeans have been allies in the fight against greed and unfair systems, contributing to the collective effort to create a more equitable world for everyone. He concluded by affirming that opposing colonization does not equate to opposing Europeans, as many have stood alongside him in the pursuit of justice and fairness.
