Alleged fraud: Court postpones arraignment of Mercy Chinwo’s ex-manager

A Federal High Court in Lagos has deferred the arraignment of Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, citing an ongoing administrative process.

Onyedikachukwu and his company, Eezee Tee, face charges of money laundering and dishonest conversion of $340,000, filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

At Thursday’s hearing, prosecutor, Mrs Bilikisu Buhari appeared for the EFCC, while Mr Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, and Dr Monday Ubani represented the defence.

Both prosecution and defense confirmed readiness to proceed, but Justice Alexander Owoeye declined to take the plea, stating that the case could not move forward until the administrative issue was resolved.

The defense argued that the dispute was contractual rather than criminal.

The court adjourned the case to May 14.
