‘Police’: Kizz Daniel eyes Grammy with collaboration with Angelique Kidjo, Johnny Drille

Nigerian afrobeats star, Daniel Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has released a brand new song, ‘Police,’ featuring five time Grammy-winning Beninese singer, Angelique Kidjo, and Johnny Drille.

The upbeat track co-produced by Ghana’s MOG Beatz, Blaise Beatz and Johnny Drille, sparked Grammy conversations upon its arrival due to Angelique Kidjo’s pedigree, Kizz Daniel’s signature flair and Johnny Drille’s velvet vocals.

Many music fans who have long tipped Kizz Daniel for a Grammy, are optimistic that ‘Police’ is the song to bring home the gramophone.

Known for her Grammy-winning brilliance, Angelique Kidjo is the joint most-awarded African artist in the history of the Recording Academy along with South Africa’s Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Her presence on ‘Police’ added to its Grammy worthiness.

Due to the song Pan-African flair, it is expected to be one of the strongest contenders for Best African Music Performance at the Grammys next year.

Should the song be nominated for the 67th Grammys, it will become Kizz Daniel and Johnny Drille’s first nomination and Angelique Kidjo’s seventeenth.

‘Police’ is a humorous lighthearted yet romantic song about a couple with conflicting schedules which results in him calling the police over his lover’s irresistible charm.

With witty lyrics and an engaging melody, the track offers a fresh perspective on love, blending humor with exceptional artistry.
