It’s going to destroy lots of people – Paul Okoye on negative social media use

Singer Paul Okoye, aka Rudeboy, has expressed deep concern over the negative use of social media among Nigerian youths.

The Reason With Me hitmaker stated that those who use social media mischievously for clout are treading a dangerous path.

He warned that such misuse is likely to destroy many people.

On his Instastory, the singer wrote: “Social media is going to destroy a lot of people… You might think it’s just cruise, clout, or to trend… Your eye go clear.”

Social media use in Nigeria remains largely unregulated, as there is no official regulatory body.

There have been calls in some quarters for social media regulation, following widespread cases of cyberbullying, fake news, hate speech, and defamation.

A bill proposing the regulation of social media in Nigeria was introduced in the National Assembly but received mixed reactions, significantly affecting its passage. The bill also faced intense criticism on social media.
