PDP slams Gov Sani’s educational policy in Kaduna

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Kaduna State Chapter, has expressed concern over lack of proper attention given to state-owned educational institutions by the Governor Uba Sani-led administration.

The party said it is “deeply concerned” about the warning strike initiated by staff unions in state-owned tertiary institutions, including Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Kaduna State College of Education, Kaduna State College of Nursing, and Shehu Idris College of Health Technology, over poor working conditions and infrastructural decay.

A statement issued by the state chairman of PDP, Edward Percy Masha, lamented that the strike, which commenced in the early hours of Thursday, posed a significant threat to the academic calendar and the future of thousands of students.

He said, “We are deeply concerned that thousands of students are at risk of delayed graduation and traumatic experiences due to the government’s neglect of the education sector.

“Given the substantial financial resources accrued to the APC administration under Governor Uba Sani over the past two years, there is no justification for the lack of attention to education.”

Masha explained that the PDP stands in solidarity with the workers’ unions and urged the government to engage in dialogue to meet their demands, stressing that education is a fundamental right, and it is the government’s duty to provide a conducive environment for teachers and learners.

“We sympathize with the lecturers and students affected and assure them of our unwavering commitment to ensuring a responsible and responsive government,” he stated.

The state chairman of PDP appealed to citizens to remain patient and keep faith with the party as they were working towards changing the inept APC administration and ensuring a better future for Kaduna State through the ballot.
