Governor Uba Sani Appoints Ben Kure as New KSMC Managing Director

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has announced the appointment of Ben Solomon Dalhatu Kure as the new Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), a state-owned broadcaster responsible for public communications. The decision, disclosed in a weekend statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibraheem Musa, follows the redeployment of the previous KSMC head, Ahmed Maiyaki, to the role of Commissioner for Information.

Kure steps into the position with expectations to advance the reforms initiated under Maiyaki’s leadership, which officials say revitalized the corporation’s operations. His appointment aligns with broader administrative changes aimed at strengthening governance and public engagement in the northwestern Nigerian state.

Prior to this role, Kure held multiple strategic positions within Kaduna’s government. Between 2016 and 2017, he served as Chairman of Jaba Local Government, overseeing grassroots governance in the region. From 2018 to 2019, he led the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, coordinating disaster response efforts. Most recently, he acted as Special Adviser on Political Matters to Governor Sani from 2019 to 2021, advising on policy and strategic communications.

The transition underscores the state’s focus on experienced leadership to steer its media infrastructure. KSMC plays a critical role in disseminating public information, fostering civic education, and amplifying government initiatives across Kaduna’s diverse communities. Observers note Kure’s blend of local governance expertise and crisis management experience could prove vital in navigating the evolving media landscape, particularly amid pressing national challenges such as security concerns and socio-economic reforms.

Musa’s statement emphasized continuity, stating the new managing director is tasked with “building on existing progress” to enhance the corporation’s reach and impact. The reshuffle reflects Governor Sani’s broader strategy to align key offices with professionals versed in both administrative rigor and community engagement. As Kaduna continues to prioritize transparency and public accountability, the effectiveness of its media apparatus remains central to fostering trust and dialogue with residents.
