Tanzania Police Force Assures Safety and Peace During Election Campaign Period

The Tanzania Police Force has announced its readiness to maintain peace and security throughout the upcoming election campaign period. Speaking ahead of the official launch of election campaigns, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police David Misime assured citizens that the force is well-prepared to provide necessary security for all political activities.

The official campaigns for presidential, parliamentary, and ward councillor candidates are set to begin, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The police spokesperson emphasized the importance of upholding peace, calm, and security, stating that it is the duty of every Tanzanian to safeguard the nation’s stability. He reminded candidates, their supporters, and the public that no one should cause violations of laws, regulations, or procedures at any stage of the campaign process.

Misime stressed the need for all parties involved to respect the campaign timetable to avoid conflicts, confrontations, or potential criminal acts. He warned that anyone found violating these rules will face legal consequences under the country’s laws. The police spokesperson reiterated the force’s commitment to ensuring that the electoral process proceeds without disruption and called for the cooperation of all political players and citizens to uphold national unity and peace during this crucial period.

In a related development, Mtwara Regional Police Commander Issa Suleiman appealed to candidates and citizens in the region to conduct their campaigns peacefully and respectfully. He emphasized the need for civil and law-abiding campaigns that comply with the regulations set by the Independent National Electoral Commission. Suleiman reminded candidates to use respectful language, noting that life continues after the campaigns and elections.
