Afeez Owo accepts Yemi Solade apology over slap incident

Afeez Owo, a prominent producer in Nigeria’s Nollywood film industry, has accepted a public apology from actor Yemi Solade. The apology came after an incident on a movie set where Solade slapped Owo.

In an interview, Solade expressed regret over his actions and stated that he had discussed the matter with some of their colleagues. Owo, who appeared on the African A-List podcast, accepted the apology and referred to Solade as his senior brother. He explained that he had let go of the incident after seeing Solade’s apology.

According to Owo, the incident occurred when he was working as a production manager on a film set. He had informed the cast and crew to let him know their needs so he could cater to them, but it seems there was a misunderstanding. Solade, who was hungry at the time, slapped Owo. Owo downplayed the incident, stating that even if Solade had not apologized, he would not have held it against him, given their professional relationship and Solade’s seniority.

The apology and acceptance highlight the complexities of professional relationships in the entertainment industry. As a production manager, Owo’s role was to ensure the well-being of the cast and crew, including Solade. The incident and subsequent apology demonstrate the importance of communication and respect in the workplace, even in high-pressure environments like film sets.

The Nollywood film industry has grown significantly in recent years, with many of its productions gaining international recognition. The industry’s growth has also led to increased scrutiny of its professionals, with many expecting them to maintain high standards of conduct. The apology and acceptance by Solade and Owo, respectively, demonstrate a commitment to maintaining positive working relationships and upholding the industry’s reputation.

With the incident now resolved, it is likely that Solade and Owo will continue to work together in the future. Their professional relationship and ability to resolve conflicts in a constructive manner are essential to the success of Nollywood productions. As the industry continues to grow and evolve, it is crucial for professionals like Solade and Owo to prioritize respect, communication, and teamwork to produce high-quality films that showcase Nigerian talent and creativity.
