In Liberia, Keyara’s Gift Incorporated, a nongovernmental organization, has awarded scholarships to 175 students. The scholarships cover a range of educational levels—from elementary school to college—and include tuition, transportation, meals, medication, accommodation and hospitality for some beneficiaries. In addition to financial support, the organization has supplied copybooks, pens, book bags, pencils and sharpeners, while older female students received sanitary pads.

Reverend Francis Kollie, Country Manager of Keyara’s Gift, stressed that the scholarship funds come from the hard work of others and urged the beneficiaries to remain studious. He thanked the organization’s Board Chairman, Kreig Ecklund, and Program Manager, Karen Ecklund, for their continued support of Liberian children’s education. Kollie also called on monitors of the scholarship program to visit schools regularly to assess student performance, ensure protection, and observe the learning environment.

The Reverend appealed to the Ministry of Education to encourage private and faith‑based schools to lower tuition fees, making education more affordable for all. The scholarship award ceremony was attended by monitors, guardians, students—including persons with disabilities—and well‑wishers. Several parents and guardians praised Keyara’s Gift for easing the financial burden of tuition and expressed gratitude to the organization’s sponsors in the United States.

The initiative highlights Keyara’s Gift Incorporated’s commitment to supporting education in Liberia. By providing scholarships and essential supplies, the organization aims to improve beneficiaries’ access to quality education, which is vital for their personal development and the country’s growth. These efforts underscore the importance of collaboration among private organizations, governments and international partners in promoting education and reducing financial barriers to learning.
