UK police have arrested four individuals on suspicion of projecting images onto Windsor Castle, including depictions of US President Donald Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, just as Trump arrived in the UK for his second state visit. He is scheduled to meet King Charles III at the Windsor royal residence on Wednesday.
The activist group Led by Donkeys claimed responsibility for the stunt, which also featured a projection of Trump’s 2023 mugshot taken after he was indicted for attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. Thames Valley Police Chief Superintendent Felicity Parker said any unauthorized activity around Windsor Castle is taken extremely seriously, and officers responded swiftly to stop the projection.
The inclusion of Epstein’s image is particularly noteworthy given the allegations surrounding the disgraced financier. Democrats and some of Trump’s allies have accused the president of covering up the Epstein case, suggesting that Epstein maintained a “client list” of powerful individuals to whom he allegedly trafficked women. The FBI and the Justice Department have denied the existence of such a list, and Trump has said he ended his friendship with Epstein in the 2000s, before becoming aware of the allegations.
The arrests have highlighted the ongoing controversy surrounding Trump’s relationship with Epstein, a topic likely to receive further attention during his UK visit. As the investigation into the projection incident continues, the consequences faced by the arrested individuals remain uncertain. The episode has also raised questions about security at Windsor Castle, with police emphasizing the importance of protecting the royal residence from unauthorized activities.
Despite the controversy, the meeting between Trump and King Charles III is expected to proceed as scheduled.
