NLNG wins 2025 oil, gas best training award — Daily Nigerian

Nigeria LNG Ltd. (NLNG) has been recognized as the 2025 Best Corporate Training Partner by the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN). The award was presented at the fourth edition of the OGTAN Human Capital Development Awards in Lagos. According to Dr. Sophia Horsfall, NLNG’s General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development, the honor acknowledges the company’s long‑standing commitment to workforce development, skills transfer, and capacity building within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

The award was received by Mr. Emmanuel Uleh, Head of Nigerian Content Compliance Assurance and Monitoring, who reiterated NLNG’s strong commitment to human‑capital development. He emphasized that capacity development is a central part of the company’s corporate social responsibility agenda, particularly in education.

Since its inception, NLNG has promoted local capacity development by training Nigerian technicians and operators for the operation and maintenance of its Bonny Island plant. This approach has yielded significant results: NLNG now boasts a 100 % Nigerian management team and a workforce that is over 95 % Nigerian. The company has empowered thousands of Nigerians with industry‑relevant skills, vocational training, and formal education support through strategic partnerships and targeted initiatives.

Over 600 Nigerians have been trained in highly technical areas—including naval architecture, shipbuilding, welding, and fabrication—under the Bonny Gas Transport Plus Project. In collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and OGTAN, NLNG has trained more than 150 people through its asset projects. Additionally, the Train 7 Project’s Human Capital Development programme is currently training more than 400 Nigerians, including 140 in plant maintenance and 200 community youths preparing for future operations.

NLNG’s corporate social responsibility programmes continue to prioritize education as a driver of national development, awarding scholarships to students at post‑primary and undergraduate levels. These efforts reflect the company’s vision of being a globally competitive energy firm that inspires a sustainable future.

The OGTAN Human Capital Development Awards have consistently celebrated organizations and individuals making significant contributions to human‑capital development since their inception. This recognition reinforces NLNG’s commitment to developing the skills and capacities of Nigerians, aligning with national development goals and sustainability priorities.
