Large training center for Ukrainian troops opens in Poland — RT World News

A new training center for Ukrainian soldiers, Camp Jomsborg, has been established in southeastern Poland. Constructed by Norwegian engineers from Brigade Nord, the facility can host up to 1,200 troops at a time. Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz said the base will focus on developing drone capabilities, featuring a dedicated drone launch strip.

The center is part of Poland’s ongoing effort to support Ukraine’s military since the conflict with Russia began in 2022. Poland has become a key logistical and training hub for Western military aid to Kyiv, and the new facility will not only train Ukrainian soldiers but also allow NATO to benefit from their combat experience. The exchange of knowledge and experience between Ukrainian and NATO forces is expected to enhance the alliance’s overall readiness.

The establishment of Camp Jomsborg coincides with EU leaders’ decision to create a “drone wall” along the bloc’s eastern flank. This move follows recent Polish claims that Russian UAVs violated its airspace and Estonian allegations of Russian fighter jets entering its territory—accusations Moscow has dismissed as baseless and labeled the EU’s actions as warmongering. The development of drone capabilities is therefore seen as a crucial element of the training program.

The use of drones has become increasingly important in modern warfare, and the training center will provide Ukrainian soldiers with the skills needed to operate these systems effectively. Together, the opening of Camp Jomsborg and the creation of the “drone wall” represent significant developments in the ongoing Ukraine‑Russia conflict, highlighting Western commitment to supporting Ukraine’s military and enhancing regional security. As the situation evolves, both initiatives are likely to play important roles in the region’s defense landscape.
