Dangote Refinery Hails Tinubu's Intervention In Dispute With PENGASSAN • Channels Television

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his role in resolving the dispute with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN). The refinery also commended the Office of the National Security Adviser, the ministers of labour and employment, and other senior government officials for their efforts in settling the issue.

The conflict, which centered on unionisation and the alleged dismissal of more than 800 Nigerian workers, had triggered a nationwide strike by PENGASSAN. A reconciliation meeting led by Minister of Labour and Employment Mohammed Dingyadi resulted in the suspension of the industrial action. The meeting, held at the National Security Adviser’s office, was attended by several officials, including Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun and Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nkiruka Onyejeocha.

Dangote Refinery praised these officials for their patriotism and national service, noting that their intervention halted the disruptive actions of PENGASSAN against the refinery. The company also thanked Nigerians for their supportive voices and encouragement, assuring the public that it will continue to work in their interest and protect the nation from rent‑seekers, economic saboteurs, and squatters.

The refinery reaffirmed its commitment to serve the nation faithfully and diligently through uninterrupted production of petroleum products. Despite distractions from detractors and saboteurs, its dedication to the Nigerian people remains undiluted, undiminished, and unalterable. The resolution of the dispute is significant because it ensures continued petroleum production and prevents potential disruptions to the economy. This outcome highlights the importance of public‑private collaboration in resolving industrial disputes, and with the strike suspended, Dangote Petroleum Refinery is expected to resume normal operations, supplying essential petroleum products to the Nigerian market.
