Iyiola Omisore, former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former senator for Osun East (2003‑2011), has announced his intention to contest the party’s ticket for the 2026 Osun State governorship election. Speaking in Osogbo, he expressed confidence that more than 90 % of APC members would back his candidacy and that the people of Osun would vote for the party en masse.
The Independent National Electoral Commission’s timetable sets the governorship election for 8 August 2026, with party primaries slated for 24 November to 15 December 2025. Omisore highlighted the preparedness of core party members to secure his selection in December, noting that the widespread support from volunteers across the state demonstrates the APC’s strength and readiness for the upcoming primaries.
He asserted that the APC has a 100 % chance of winning the 2026 governorship election, citing the enthusiasm of party volunteers as evidence of internal cohesion.
