Tinubu administration tackles corruption effectively

The administration of President Bola Tinubu has received commendation for its approach to tackling corruption in Nigeria. Kenny Okolugbo, media aide to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, praised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) under Ola Olukoyede for demonstrating an unprecedented level of focus and effectiveness in combating financial crimes.

During an interview on TVC News, Okolugbo highlighted the EFCC’s efforts in fighting round-tripping and cryptocurrency-related manipulation of the naira. He noted that the Commission’s actions have contributed to the relative stability of the naira and the improvement of the economy. Okolugbo argued that the current administration has made notable progress in anti-corruption efforts, contrary to claims by the opposition.

The EFCC has recovered 753 houses and generated internally generated revenue (IGR) for initiatives such as the students’ loan fund and the cash-back scheme. The Commission has also deported foreigners involved in cybercrime and tracked funds across ministries and agencies, sending a strong message that Nigeria is no longer a haven for corruption. Okolugbo emphasized the importance of plugging financial leakages for economic growth and credited the Tinubu administration for taking bold steps in that direction.

The government’s ongoing tax reforms were also lauded as a sustainable path to national development. Okolugbo stated that the tax reforms will become a major source of IGR once they come into full effect and are embraced by the people. The EFCC’s actions and the government’s tax reforms are significant steps in addressing corruption and promoting economic growth in Nigeria.

The progress made by the EFCC under the Tinubu administration is a notable development in the country’s anti-corruption efforts. The Commission’s focus on combating financial crimes and generating revenue has contributed to the improvement of the economy. As the government continues to implement its tax reforms and anti-corruption measures, it is likely that Nigeria will see further economic growth and development. The international community will be watching the country’s progress in addressing corruption and promoting economic stability.
