Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yomi Fabiyi recently addressed his public support for Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner Imisi, emphasizing that his actions stem from genuine loyalty and gratitude. In an interview with Saturday Beats, Fabiyi explained that his relationship with Imisi predates her reality‑TV fame; he sees himself as a “father figure” to the young star within the movie industry. He noted that Imisi was the only housemate he knew personally and that she has consistently backed his endeavors, even attending his housewarming ceremony and helping ensure its success.
Fabiyi clarified that supporting Imisi during the show was simply the right thing to do, given their existing bond. Imisi’s entertainment journey began under Fabiyi’s mentorship at his film academy, where she was a student. He added that she has always been supportive of him and his son, and that they once lived in the same area of Ikorodu. Her helpful nature and support, he stressed, date back to before she gained fame.
When asked whether he had concerns about publicly backing Imisi—especially since some people he had helped in the past turned against him—Fabiyi said he does not let such experiences dictate his actions. He acknowledged that some individuals distance themselves from those who helped them in order to appear self‑made, but he remains unbothered by that behavior. Fabiyi reiterated his commitment to doing what is right, regardless of any ingratitude he may encounter.
His comments underscore the importance of loyalty and gratitude in the entertainment industry, where relationships and mentorship can significantly influence an individual’s success. As Imisi’s career continues to evolve, Fabiyi’s public support stands as a testament to the value he places on their relationship and her personal character.
