Boko Haram troops record major success in Borno State operations

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have achieved significant success in their counter-terrorism efforts in Borno State, Nigeria. On October 10, 2025, troops conducted separate fighting patrols in Magumeri and Gajiram, resulting in the neutralization of nine terrorists and the recovery of substantial items.

According to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, the operations were carried out based on credible intelligence regarding the movement of Boko Haram elements in the area. In Magumeri, troops intercepted terrorists who were setting houses ablaze and harassing residents. A four-hour tactical chase ensued, culminating in a fierce firefight that neutralized five terrorists. Items recovered from the scene included an AK-47 rifle, magazines, ammunition, a mobile phone, and a dagger.

In a separate operation along the Gajiram–Bolori–Mile 40–Gajiganna axis, troops engaged a Boko Haram faction near Zundur village, neutralizing four terrorists and rescuing two hostages. The hostages, identified as Mr. Modu Kinnami and Mr. Bukar, had been abducted and a ransom demanded by the insurgents. Recovered items from this operation included a pickup vehicle, mobile phones, fuel, and cash totaling ₦4,355,000.

The combined operations bring the total number of terrorists neutralized to nine, with ₦5,105,000 recovered, believed to include ransom money. The Media Information Officer reaffirmed that troops remain relentless in maintaining pressure on remnants of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements across all operational fronts in the region. Further operations are ongoing to deny the terrorists freedom of movement and restore lasting peace to the North East.

This recent success adds to the growing list of battlefield victories recorded by Operation HADIN KAI in recent months, as security forces intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and secure local communities in Borno and neighboring states. The operations demonstrate the commitment of the Nigerian military to combating terrorism and restoring peace to the region. With ongoing efforts to maintain pressure on terrorist elements, the region is expected to experience increased stability and security in the coming months.
