Adebayo Reaffirms Loyalty to SDP Amid Party Revival

Prince Adewole Adebayo, a former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, has reiterated his dedication to the party, stating that he will not defect to any other political platform unless the SDP ceases to exist. Adebayo, who contested the 2023 presidential election, initially joined the SDP in 1991 at the age of 19 and has since remained a loyal member despite facing pressure to join other parties.

Adebayo addressed rumors claiming that the SDP is collaborating with the ruling All Progressives Congress, dismissing these allegations and emphasizing that his political activities are solely within the SDP. He acknowledged that some individuals within the party may have sympathies with other parties, but stressed that such actions are not tolerated.

The SDP is currently undergoing a transformation led by younger politicians who are committed to reviving the party’s founding principles of fairness, equity, and justice. Adebayo noted that the party’s manifesto remains aligned with the constitutional principles of good governance and the rule of law. He expressed his concern about the state of the nation, citing corruption, poor governance, and economic mismanagement as major obstacles to Nigeria’s progress.

Adebayo attributed the country’s challenges to the failure of successive administrations to fulfill their promises of development and accountability. Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, he stated that the SDP will continue to promote issue-based politics and work to rebuild public trust through ethical leadership. This approach is expected to resonate with voters seeking a more transparent and accountable government.

As Nigeria prepares for its next general elections, the SDP’s commitment to its founding principles and its focus on issue-based politics may appeal to citizens seeking change. With its renewed emphasis on fairness, equity, and justice, the party aims to provide an alternative to the current political landscape. Adebayo’s reaffirmation of his loyalty to the SDP reflects the party’s efforts to rebuild and present a strong platform for the upcoming elections.
