The Lagos Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) recovered a substantial cache of stolen items in Ikeja, including 75 mobile phones and five laptops. According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the recovery occurred on October 5 at about 5:30 a.m. near the Allen roundabout. While on a routine patrol, RRS operatives spotted two men carrying large bags; the suspects fled as soon as they noticed the police and abandoned the bags. The abandoned bags contained 32 iPhones of various models, 38 other smartphones from brands such as Samsung, Redmi, Tecno and Honor, five laptops, several smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung tablet, a Sorapad and a number of damaged phones. Preliminary investigations indicate that the items were stolen property hastily left behind as the suspects fled.
RRS Commander CSP Shola Jejeloye urged anyone in Ikeja and surrounding areas who may have lost similar gadgets to visit the RRS headquarters in Alausa with verifiable proof of ownership for identification and recovery. Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh praised the RRS operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, reaffirming the command’s commitment to intelligence‑driven policing, proactive crime prevention, and the safety and security of residents across the state.
The recovery underscores the effectiveness of the Lagos Police Command’s strategies in combating crime and reassures the public of their safety.
