Zanzibar’s ruling‑party candidate, Simai Mohammed Said, urged the residents of Uzi Village to keep supporting Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) for sustained peace and development. Speaking to a large rally at Uzi Ng’ambwa, Simai highlighted the Eighth Phase Government’s commitment to transforming lives through infrastructure, education and social‑welfare projects.
He noted that government initiatives have reached even the most remote parts of Unguja, citing the construction of a two‑kilometre bridge that links Uzi Island to the mainland. The bridge has opened new opportunities for business, transport and tourism, giving residents easier access to markets, schools and health services. Simai explained that fishermen can now transport their catches faster, traders can reach urban markets more efficiently, and children can attend school with greater ease.
Other achievements mentioned included improved health care through modern dispensaries, electrification projects and increased access to clean, safe water in rural areas. Simai pledged that, if re‑elected, he will focus on youth employment, women’s empowerment and education. He plans to expand vocational training and support entrepreneurship so young people become job creators rather than job seekers.
The candidate reminded voters to turn out in large numbers on election day, stressing that voting for CCM guarantees continuity of progress and peace. He commended the people of Uzi for maintaining unity and discipline during the campaign, reflecting Zanzibar’s long‑standing culture of political tolerance. Simai concluded by urging residents to rally behind President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi and President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, asserting that with CCM, Zanzibar’s future is bright.
