The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cleared the results of 85 under‑age candidates for exceptional admission after a thorough screening process. The decision was announced on Monday in Abuja by JAMB spokesman Fabian Benjamin. The successful candidates have been instructed to proceed to their respective institutions to complete the admission process and print their individual JAMB admission letters.
According to the statement, the 85 candidates were selected from a pool of 41,027 applicants who sought consideration under the special “exceptional admission” category for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Of these, 599 candidates met the 80 % UTME score threshold and underwent further scrutiny, including verification of school certificates and Post‑UTME screening. This narrowed the field to 182 candidates who were interviewed and screened, resulting in the final selection of 85.
JAMB’s policy on exceptional admission aligns with global best practices, treating such cases as rare exceptions rather than the norm. The board has urged any candidates who missed the screening—particularly the 182 finalists who may have been unable to attend the final interview for valid reasons—to contact JAMB for further advice. They can submit a formal request through the JAMB Support Ticketing System under the category “2025 Underage Complaint.”
Additionally, candidates who scored 320 or above in the UTME but were disqualified for failing to upload their O‑Level results have been given a two‑day window, until 29 October 2025, to upload the required documents. They must notify the board of the upload via the ticketing system.
The clearance of the 85 under‑age candidates underscores JAMB’s commitment to providing eligible candidates with the opportunity to pursue higher education while maintaining the integrity of the admission process. With this development, the affected candidates can now complete their admission procedures and embark on their academic journeys.
