You will need therapy when you become successful musician - Zlatan tells upcoming artistes

Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile, whose real name is Temidayo Omoniyi, revealed that he no longer smokes. The musician, best known for his hit “Zanku,” shared this information during a recent interactive session with fans on Snapchat. When a fan asked whether he still smoked, Zlatan said he quit four years ago and emphasized that he has no problem with those who continue to smoke.

His announcement joins a growing list of Nigerian artists who have publicly declared they are quitting or cutting back on smoking. Notable examples include Don Jazzy, Peruzzi, Tekno and Kizz Daniel. In 2018, Davido also said he intended to quit, citing inspiration from Don Jazzy’s success.

Zlatan’s decision is a significant personal choice, especially given the health risks associated with tobacco use. The World Health Organization repeatedly warns that smoking is a leading cause of preventable deaths worldwide. By sharing his experience, Zlatan may inspire fans to consider similar lifestyle changes.

The trend of Nigerian musicians quitting smoking reflects a broader awareness of health and wellness within the entertainment industry. As public figures, these artists wield considerable influence over their audiences, and their choices can shape cultural attitudes toward smoking and other health issues. Zlatan’s announcement serves as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing health and making informed lifestyle decisions. With his large following, his decision could encourage others to reevaluate their habits and pursue a healthier path. As the industry evolves, it will be interesting to see whether more artists follow suit.
