FRSC announces temporary diversion on Kaduna-Zaria expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kaduna State has announced a temporary traffic diversion on the Kaduna‑Zaria expressway due to ongoing construction. Sector Commander Tijjani Iliyasu said the diversion will be implemented at KM 49 in Gwaranza Village, where an overpass is being built as part of the Kaduna‑Kano standard gauge rail line project. The diversion is scheduled to begin on 1 November and will affect motorists traveling on the Kaduna‑Zaria route.

Iliyasu urged drivers to take note of the diversion to avoid disruptions to their journeys. The FRSC advises motorists to plan their routes accordingly, exercise caution when approaching the diversion point, and follow all traffic instructions. In case of emergencies, drivers can contact the FRSC toll‑free line at 122 or 091 3960 1839 for assistance. The Corps has assured the public that the diversion is temporary and will be lifted once construction is completed.

The construction work is part of a larger effort to upgrade the rail line, which will improve transportation infrastructure in the region. The Kaduna‑Kano standard gauge rail line project is a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing links between the two major northern Nigerian cities. It involves building a new rail line and upgrading existing infrastructure, including roads and bridges. The Federal Government has invested heavily in the project, which is expected to boost economic growth and improve living standards in the area.

Motorists are advised to check for updates on the diversion and to follow traffic instructions carefully to ensure their safety and that of other road users. The FRSC will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary to minimize disruptions to traffic flow. While drivers may experience some delays, the temporary diversion will ultimately result in improved infrastructure and enhanced transportation links in the region.
