Nollywood actor demands Peggy Ovire arrest over assault

A Nigerian actor, Stanley Ontop, has urged the authorities to arrest his colleague, Peggy Ovire, over an alleged assault on another actor, Taye Arimoro. The call comes after CCTV footage of the incident surfaced on social media, sparking controversy.

The footage, which emerged on Thursday, appears to contradict Peggy Ovire’s earlier denial of the assault allegations. She had claimed that Taye Arimoro was the one who assaulted her driver. However, the video evidence suggests that Peggy Ovire and her driver were involved in a physical altercation with Taye Arimoro at a movie location.

According to Stanley Ontop, the incident occurred when Taye Arimoro refused to continue filming beyond 12 am, citing that his contract with Peggy Ovire had expired. Instead of negotiating, Peggy Ovire allegedly assaulted him and instructed her driver to do the same, resulting in serious injuries.

Stanley Ontop took to social media to condemn the incident, tagging the Nigeria Police Force and calling for Peggy Ovire’s arrest. He emphasized that no actor should be subjected to bullying or physical harm. The Lagos State Police Command has been urged to take swift action in arresting Peggy Ovire and investigating the matter.

Taye Arimoro had earlier shared a series of videos on his Instagram page, accusing Peggy Ovire of assaulting him at the movie location. The incident has raised concerns about workplace safety and the treatment of actors in the Nigerian film industry. The police are yet to comment on the matter, but the incident has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many calling for accountability and justice for Taye Arimoro. The outcome of the investigation and any subsequent actions taken by the authorities are being closely watched by the industry and the public.
