The Nigerian Air Force has reached a significant milestone in its fight against banditry by conducting precision air strikes that destroyed a terrorist hideout in Zamfara. According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the strikes were carried out on Friday by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, targeting a high‑ground hideout at Sauri in Tsafe Local Government Area.

The operation followed an extensive period of intelligence gathering and surveillance that confirmed the presence of armed terrorists and rustled livestock in the area. The rocky enclave had been used as a defensive stronghold and logistics hub. Aircraft executed multiple coordinated strike runs on the camp, scoring direct hits that forced surviving terrorists to flee into surrounding bushes, where they were subsequently tracked and neutralized in follow‑up engagements.

The strikes eliminated numerous terrorists and destroyed key structures, significantly degrading the gang’s ability to operate in the region. This development underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to protecting its citizens, as emphasized by Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Aneke. The Joint Task Force under Operation FANSAN YAMMA has intensified efforts to deny terrorists safe havens and strengthen security across Zamfara and the wider Northwest region.

These air strikes are part of a broader campaign to address the security challenges posed by banditry and terrorism. The Nigerian Air Force has been collaborating with other security agencies to identify and disrupt terrorist networks and to support ground troops. The success of this operation highlights the importance of coordinated military efforts in combating insecurity and protecting civilian populations. The destruction of the terrorist hideout at Sauri is a significant blow to the militants’ operational capacity and is expected to improve the security situation in Zamfara and surrounding areas. As the Air Force continues to intensify its operations against terrorist groups, further successes are likely, contributing to a safer environment for citizens.
