Nvidia reported a sharp rise in demand for its artificial‑intelligence (AI) chips, and its shares climbed after the company beat quarterly earnings expectations. The strong results come despite growing concerns among Wall Street analysts about an AI bubble, with Nvidia closely watched as a bellwether for the industry.

Chief executive Jensen Huang said the market is shifting from classical computing to AI‑infused systems that rely on graphics processing units (GPUs), Nvidia’s core specialty. He noted that software is rapidly adapting to the AI era and that AI “agents” capable of handling computer work independently are becoming more common.

The company posted record quarterly revenue of $57 billion and profit of $31.9 billion, prompting a more‑than‑5 % rise in its stock price. Revenue was driven primarily by the data‑center GPU segment, with sales of the latest Blackwell model described as “off the charts.” Nvidia also announced strategic partnerships with OpenAI and Anthropic to deploy next‑generation AI infrastructure.

However, sales in China were hampered by geopolitical issues. The H‑20 GPUs, designed for the Chinese market, generated only $50 million in the quarter. CFO Colette Kress attributed the weak performance to an increasingly competitive Chinese market and the lack of sizable purchase orders due to national‑security concerns.

Analysts viewed the earnings report as a positive signal for the tech sector. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives called it a “pop the champagne” moment. Nvidia’s valuation now exceeds $4.5 trillion, and revenue for the current quarter is projected at $65 billion, surpassing Wall Street forecasts. The surge in demand for Nvidia’s AI chips reflects the growing need for sophisticated computing power to support AI applications such as recommendation engines and generative AI. As the AI ecosystem continues to scale, Nvidia is well positioned to benefit from its leadership in GPU technology and its strategic partnerships with key industry players.
