The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Agatu Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State has denied reports of a planned decamping rally scheduled for Saturday, November 29, 2025. In a statement issued on Thursday, Hon. Habibu Saidu, the APC Chairman of Agatu LGA, clarified that the party has not organized any such event. He emphasized that neither he nor the Benue State Working Committee of the APC, led by Comrade Austin Agada, has authorized a decamping ceremony or rally in Agatu.
Saidu stated, “The APC under my leadership in Agatu LGA is not organizing any decamping ceremony or rally for members, and no meetings or gatherings have been approved for Saturday.” He warned that a notice circulating on social media about the event is “fake news and misinformation” and should be ignored by all APC members and the people of Agatu. The Benue APC State Working Committee has also directed its members in Agatu LGA to avoid the purported event, cautioning that non‑compliance could lead to disciplinary action. This move aims to maintain order and discipline within the party.
The denial comes as the APC in Benue State continues to strengthen its structure and prepare for future elections. The party has been engaged in various activities aimed at promoting unity and cohesion among its members. Its swift response to the false reports demonstrates a commitment to transparency and accountability. By dismissing the claims and warning members against participating in the unauthorized event, the APC seeks to prevent potential divisions and keep its focus on its goals.
As the political landscape in Benue State evolves, the APC’s actions will be closely watched by members, supporters, and the general public. The party’s ability to manage internal affairs and counter misinformation will be crucial in maintaining the trust and confidence of its stakeholders.
