The Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday to discuss the state’s lingering security concerns and development initiatives. The meeting came after a recent incident in which 24 schoolgirls were abducted from a secondary school in Maga by armed bandits; they were later released safely thanks to swift action by the authorities.
According to a statement from the Governor’s Special Adviser on New Media, Aliyu Bandado, Dr. Idris thanked President Tinubu for the federal government’s prompt response to the abduction. He then provided a detailed briefing on the ongoing insecurity in parts of Kebbi State, outlining measures being implemented to protect citizens and highlighting priority development projects in agriculture, education, and healthcare.
The discussion also focused on collaborative efforts to combat insecurity, including enhanced intelligence sharing, rapid‑response strategies, and joint operations between state and federal security agencies. President Tinubu commended Governor Idris’s proactive approach to security management and assured continued federal support to accelerate progress in Kebbi State.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, who accompanied the Governor. The federal government’s support is expected to play a crucial role in addressing both security challenges and development initiatives in the state. This collaboration aims to strengthen security measures and promote economic growth in the region, underscoring the commitment of both state and federal governments to these goals.
