The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has warned the public against trespassing and vandalism on railway tracks as the country moves toward electric rail lines. Managing Director Dr. Kayode Opeifa stressed that safety is paramount during this transition, noting the heightened risks associated with electrified tracks.
In an interview, Opeifa highlighted the advantages of electric rail—greater safety, higher speeds, and environmental sustainability—but cautioned that tampering with the lines can lead to electrocution, injury, or death.
