Nova Microfinance has partnered with Simba Automotives Limited, a leading motorbike company in Uganda, to increase access to both fuel‑powered and electric motorcycles across the country. The collaboration will offer flexible financing and repayment plans to individuals, companies, and business owners through Simba’s 65 distribution points.
The initiative targets the boda boda sector, Uganda’s second‑largest employer, where millions of riders and their dependents rely on motorbikes for small‑scale commerce and transportation. By providing financing options with down payments as low as UGX 450,000 and repayment periods of 12 to 24 months, more people will be able to own motorbikes, boosting economic productivity for delivery riders, small traders, and commuters.
Precious Naluwu, Partnerships Manager at Nova Microfinance, said the partnership will accelerate growth in the informal sector and create employment opportunities by expanding access to a wide range of motorbikes. Chitwan Dogra, CEO of Simba Automotives, highlighted that the extensive network of over 60 distribution points nationwide will make motorcycles accessible to everyone.
The program is expected to benefit small business owners and individual riders, who can now acquire a motorcycle with a manageable initial deposit. This partnership demonstrates both companies’ commitment to supporting Uganda’s economic growth by providing affordable financing for essential transportation.
Given the boda boda sector’s critical role in Uganda’s economy, the initiative represents a significant step toward increasing transportation access and promoting overall economic development. As demand for efficient, affordable transport rises, the collaboration is poised to have a positive impact on the sector and the country’s economy as a whole, creating new opportunities for individuals and businesses alike.
