Party chieftain reveals reasons for mass defection to APC in Abia

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced its upcoming National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, which will be held on December 15 and 16, 2025, respectively, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The notice, signed by APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, states that the National Caucus meeting will convene on December 15 at 6:00 p.m. Under Article 11 of the APC Constitution, the National Caucus includes key party stakeholders such as national chairmen, past and present presidents and vice‑presidents, serving and former governors, and other designated representatives. The notice serves as an invitation to all National Caucus members, as required by Article 11.5 of the party’s constitution.

The NEC meeting is scheduled for December 16 at 12:00 p.m. and will bring together a broader range of party officials, including the national chairman, deputy national chairmen, national secretary, state chairmen, and others. Article 13.1 defines the NEC as a crucial organ responsible for making key decisions, and the notice invites all NEC members to attend in accordance with Article 12.3 of the constitution.

These meetings are significant because they demonstrate the APC’s commitment to its internal governance structure. By adhering to constitutional provisions, the party seeks to ensure transparency and accountability within its ranks. As the ruling party in Nigeria, the APC’s decisions have far‑reaching implications for the country’s political landscape, and the outcomes of these gatherings will likely be closely watched by political analysts and stakeholders. The ability to convene these meetings as scheduled underscores the party’s effort to maintain a functional and effective leadership structure, a matter that will remain under scrutiny as Nigeria navigates its complex political terrain. With these sessions, the APC aims to address internal matters that could shape the course of its future endeavors.
