The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has commended Marconi NG EPC Limited, an oil and gas servicing company, for its commitment to implementing Nigeria’s local content policy. Marconi, a wholly Nigerian entity, has pledged to deliver projects in a cost-competitive and timely manner. The company made this commitment during a tour of its facility in Port Harcourt, led by the NCDMB, which showcased its capabilities and assets.
Marconi’s facility, which covers over 1,000,000 square meters, includes a 330-meter jetty and has the capacity to fabricate over 25,000 tonnes of heavy structures per year. The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Gian Fabio Del Cioppo, emphasized that Marconi possesses the equipment, technical capacity, and human capabilities to deliver high-quality work at competitive costs and on schedule. He also appealed to the government and industry stakeholders to continue implementing the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act, 2010, which has driven significant progress in local content development over the past 15 years.
The NCDMB’s General Manager, Corporate Communications, Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, noted that the tour was part of the board’s efforts to promote Nigerian content and build relationships with stakeholders, including the media. He explained that the NCDMB has established sustainable relationships with media stakeholders across the country and organizes annual engagements to deepen understanding of the oil and gas industry.
Marconi’s commitment to local content is significant, as it aligns with the Presidential Directives on Local Content and the provisions of the NOGICD Act. The company’s facility has played a role in the execution and construction of several notable projects in the past, including Egina, Usan, Akpo, and Train 7. With its capabilities and assets, Marconi is well-positioned to support national goals, contribute to job creation, and drive economic growth.
