Sanwo-Olu appoints Ogunmuyiwa as DG, Education Quality Assurance Office

The Lagos State Government has appointed Dr. Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa as the new Director‑General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), effective immediately. The appointment was confirmed on Friday through a statement posted on the state government’s official social media handle. According to the announcement, Ogunmuyiwa received his appointment letter on Thursday at the Office of the Head of Service in Alausa, Ikeja, where it was presented by Lagos State Head of Service Mr. Bode Agoro.

Dr. Ogunmuyiwa brings more than 25 years of experience in education administration to the role. He holds a PhD in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Abuja, master’s degrees in Educational Administration and Guidance and Counselling, and a bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Lagos. Throughout his career, he has served in various capacities within OEQA, including Head of Planning, Head of Education Quality Assurance Services, and Director of Private Education and Special Programmes. In these positions, he supervised accreditation processes, quality monitoring across schools, and system‑improvement initiatives.

A multi‑award‑winning public officer, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa was repeatedly honored as OEQA’s Best Staff between 2012 and 2022. He is an active member of several professional bodies and has made significant contributions to teacher development, school‑improvement frameworks, and community‑focused educational programmes. Mr. Agoro expressed confidence in Ogunmuyiwa’s ability to elevate education standards in the state, urging him to work tirelessly to ensure that Lagos’s education system remains a model for others to emulate.

As Director‑General of OEQA, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa will oversee the implementation of quality‑assurance processes in schools across Lagos State, ensuring that education standards are maintained and continuously improved. His appointment underscores the state government’s commitment to providing quality education to its citizens and is expected to have a positive impact on the education sector in Lagos.
