The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has decided to use a consensus approach to select party officials at all levels ahead of its upcoming congresses. This decision was made during an expanded State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Lafia. The gathering, attended by key party stakeholders—including Governor Abdullahi Sule and former APC National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu—served to brief leaders on recent developments within the party.
The motion to adopt consensus was moved by Hon. Hassan Abubakar Nalaraba, a member of the state executive, and seconded by the Deputy National Secretary of the APC, Prof. Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana. Senator Adamu conducted a voice vote, which unanimously approved the motion.
Governor Sule welcomed the decision, noting that it would facilitate a smoother process and reduce conflicts. He reiterated his support for zoning, which he believes was crucial to his emergence as governor and has helped maintain peace in the state. The governor also highlighted his administration’s achievements, projecting 2025 as the most resource‑rich year for Nasarawa State to date.
The meeting was attended by a broad range of party stakeholders, including members of the National and State Assemblies, serving and former government officials, and other key party leaders. The adoption of consensus is seen as a significant step toward promoting unity and stability within the APC ahead of its congresses. By embracing this approach, the party aims to ensure a peaceful, transparent process for selecting officials at all levels, which is expected to positively impact its overall performance and reputation in the state.
