Senator Akwashiki remains arrive Nigeria from India

The remains of Senator Godiya Akwashiki, who represented Nasarawa North, arrived in Nigeria on Monday after passing away in India last Wednesday. A delegation of politicians, including the acting National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Prof. Sadiq Gombe, and former presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo, received the late senator’s body at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Cargo Terminal in Abuja.

Notably absent from the reception were Senate President Godwill Akpabio and other Senate leaders. Prof. Gombe described Senator Akwashiki’s passing as a significant loss to the nation, stating that it is not only a loss to his constituents but also to the SDP and Nigeria at large. When questioned about the absence of sitting senators, Prof. Gombe attributed it to the ongoing Senate recess.

Senator Akwashiki’s death has been met with an outpouring of tributes from politicians, including Prince Adebayo, who remembered him as a great man whose loss would have a negative impact on the entire state. The late senator died at the age of 52 in an Indian hospital, leaving behind a legacy that will be felt by his constituents and the nation.

The reception of Senator Akwashiki’s remains marks the beginning of the process of paying respects to the late senator. The absence of key Senate leaders has raised questions about the level of support and recognition for the late senator’s contributions to the nation. As the nation mourns the loss of Senator Akwashiki, it is essential to reflect on his legacy and the impact he had on the people he represented.

Senator Akwashiki’s death serves as a reminder of the importance of recognizing and appreciating the contributions of public servants while they are still alive. The SDP and the nation will likely continue to feel the effects of his passing, and it is crucial to honor his memory by continuing his work and legacy. With the funeral arrangements expected to be announced soon, the nation will come together to pay its respects to the late senator and celebrate his life and achievements.
